Sharing Our Memories of Grandma

Grandma and Erlene

Grandma in the garden,
bowls for you to fill;
strawberries, raspberries,
vegetables and dill.

*~~~*

Grandma had the treats,
to put a smile on every face;
'TANG' in the fridge,
snacks in their place!

*~~~*

Popsicles and puffed wheat,
crunchies in the blue bowl,
corn at every meal,
cream and fruit...makes sure you're full!

*~~~*

Poker chips and card games,
'crib' and 'ride-the-bus',
'mitten' was her game,
- nickles and pennies ready for us!

*~~~*

"I'll pay you 25 cents,
if you comb my hair!"
Next thing you know...
grandkids were lined up there!

*~~~*

You could hide in the closet,
but make sure you're not locked in!
Playing with the 'downstairs phone',
could almost rank as sin!

*~~~*

But a favorite thing of all,
was the chance to sleep over,
laying next to Grandma,
"Grandpa please move over!"

*~~~*

We will always see Grandma,
crochet with the dawn.
Our memories and love for Grandma,
Will forever go on.

A Toast for Grandma

Grandpa and Grandma's 50th wedding anniversary photo

Strong woman,
faithful wife,
loving mother,
most all of her life.

*~~~*

She had kind gentle ways,
of teaching what's right,
but she also taught laughter,
with games, through the night.

*~~~*

Whether through prayer,
or crocheted stitches,
Grandma gave love,
and granted our wishes.

*~~~*

Through chips and dip,
and 'screwdrivers' too...
she knew all her grandkids,
- you KNEW she loved you!

*~~~*

We all can see Grandma,
sharing her smile,
playing cards or her organ,
or BINGO (for a little while).

*~~~*

Grandma sliced ice cream,
like no one we know,
or passed on magazines...
that REALLY helped us to grow!

*~~~*

'Young and the Restless',
was a favorite show of hers.
So was 'Price Is Right'...
(she imagined winning furs!)

*~~~*

Though our $10 birthday card,
stopped coming in later years,
we always remembered our Grandma,
memories of love, can bring tears.

*~~~*

We know Grandma has gone on,
to join Grandpa 'up there'...
I can just see her now,
eating 'evening toast', in her chair.

*~~~*

They're together again at last,
joined forever in heaven above.
So we say "Cheers Grandma!"
and with you, we send our LOVE.
