"HOT" Erlene

First born, a daughter
in September '64,
a brother completed,
this family of four.

Being sent off to school,
for ME...was a treat!
To Alex Taylor I went,
just 'cross the street.

Elementary school years,
were my favorite of all.
I excelled and looked forward,
to return in the Fall.

Even my teachers,
that knew me best,
could foresee me in teaching,
as my future quest.

For years down the road,
when that time came,
my direction in life,
did remain the same.

Off to University,
to pursue the quest,
to become a teacher,
the love, I knew best.

Elementary Education
Bachelor's Degree,
was only a step
on that path, for me.

Then came my Internship,
at Mee-Yah-Noh,
but even that step,
only helped me to grow.

Volunteering and tutoring,
were the next steps in line,
then replacement teaching,
and contracts were mine!

Now, years later,
down the long path I've come,
I have my experience,
and all I've learned from.

Has my dream been fulfilled?
My quest, did I reach?
I can honestly say...
that I know how to teach.

But a milestone that I,
have yet to acquire,
is a permanent placement,
in a position, I desire.

Elementary school...
where my dream starts.
I'll fulfill my quest...
through my own students' hearts.
