Your role as a supportive parent can be to:
- MONITOR the work your child is bringing home and participating in
- PRAISE and ENCOURAGE your child each day, to promote their desire to be a successful learner
- SUPPORT your child's teacher, and what he/she is trying to accomplish with your child
Please notify me if there is reasons for difficulties in this area, for your child. I will gladly arrange homework if your child is going to be away for periods of time.
Though the children are given class time to complete assigned work, it is VERY IMPORTANT that your child be given time for NIGHTLY learning activities at home (minimum 20-30 minutes each night). Assigned homework MUST be completed.
HOMEWORK BOOKS/PLANNERS should be viewed EACH NIGHT and monitored by you at home, to prevent learning difficulties from occuring. The Homework Books act as an excellent means of keeping the lines of communication open between the classroom and the home.
If no homework is assigned, your child may read, practice math facts, or study/go over what has been covered in their learning.
If you are able to attend and assist at any classroom event...PLEASE LET ME KNOW.
I will send home permission slips with information on what assistance is needed, when these events arise.
Ever since your child first became a student, certain RESPONSIBILITIES have been asked of your child. Your child must learn to work INDEPENDENTLY and be SELF-MOTIVATED to keep on task, without excessive supervision and encouragement.
Each Grade level has specific learner objectives and learning outcomes that they must achieve and what each student is expected to be able to do at each Grade level, varies. That means...expectations in assigned work will suit the needs of each student at each Grade level.
Instruction may be given to the entire class at the same time, but the work that is to be completed, will allow for the different learning abilities of each learner.
Students in the classroom are able to review what was learned in the past, cover learning that is new, and be challenged to learn beyond what is normally presented to them, at their Grade level.
See you at our next reporting period!!!
THANK YOU FOR COMING!!!
